Ur Tutor

Ur Tutor is a project focused on creating a platform that connects students with qualified tutors. To be sure the design is truly user-centric, I conducted a UX study to understand student needs, struggles, and preferences. The insights allowed me to create a user flow. Ultimately, my goal was to build a service that is both intuitive and highly effective for the users.

UX Study: Ur Tutor

Project Goal: To design and validate a user-friendly platform that connects students with qualified tutors. My goal was to understand the needs, challenges, and preferences of students seeking academic help to create a seamless and effective user experience.

Methodology: The study was structured to understand the user journey from past experiences to future expectations.

Key Questions & Purpose:

Understanding the User: I asked about academic level and subjects of interest to segment users and tailor the platform’s content.

Identifying Pain Points: I explored past tutoring experiences to uncover frustrations and challenges. This revealed critical opportunities for Ur Tutor to provide a better solution.

Feature Validation: I asked users to rank features and share their preferences. This helped prioritize the most essential functionalities, such as detailed tutor profiles, flexible scheduling, and secure payment processing.

Defining the Value Proposition: I concluded by asking what would make them choose Ur Tutor over competitors. This feedback was crucial for refining the platform’s unique selling points.

Key Findings & Design Implications

The study revealed that students prioritize three main factors when choosing a tutor: expertise, affordability, and trust.

Expertise:

Students need to quickly verify a tutor’s qualifications. The design solution is a clear and comprehensive tutor profile that highlights their education, subjects, and experience.

Affordability:

Transparent pricing is critical. The design will feature prominent pricing information on tutor cards and profiles to prevent hidden costs or confusion.

Trust:

Students rely on social proof. The platform will include a robust rating and review system, allowing students to make informed decisions based on the experiences of others.

This project was a deep dive into user-centered design, transforming user data into an intuitive platform. My goal was to move past assumptions and create a solution built on empathy. The design for Ur Tutor prioritizes trust and clarity, making it easy for students to find the right tutor, see transparent pricing, and feel confident in their choices. It’s a testament to the power of listening to users to create a truly effective product.
